School Wide Positive Behaviour Support

SWPBS at Wilmot Road Primary School

What is SWPBS?

School-wide positive behaviour support (SWPBS) is a framework that brings together school communities to develop positive, safe, supportive learning cultures.

SWPBS assists schools to improve social, emotional, behavioural and academic outcomes for children and young people.

Our Values and Settings

At Wilmot Road Primary School we are committed to the implementation of a whole school approach to Positive Behaviour Support for engagement and learning.

Our approach aligns with academic and behavioural systems currently in place and focuses on explicitly teaching, monitoring and rewarding expected behaviour shown by our  students.

We use our Positive Behaviour Matrix to teach our three school values:

We are Respectful

We are Responsible

We Belong

Teaching Expected Behaviours

To help students understand behaviour, we have to teach them what behaviours we expect from them at school. We set aside 30 minutes every week at Wilmot Road to teach a specific behaviour focus. During this time, students learn and practice the new behaviour skill. We have lesson plans and a plan for what to teach when to make sure all expected behaviours are taught to everyone.

WRPS Token System

Students who are showing our expected behaviours at school are acknowledged using our tokens system. There are three different tokens that each represent out school values.

         Showing they are RESPECTFUL

         Showing they are RESPONSIBLE

         Showing BELONGING to other students

Students collect their tokens and trade them in for a sticker on their tokens tally sheet.

Every term, students can take their token sheet to the SWPBS rewards shop to buy       rewards using their tokens. When they choose a reward, they receive a card for it that they give to their teacher when they want to use it.

Certain rewards, like library activities, hot Milo, Zooper Doopers, and garden time, have specific times set by the SWPBS team. This means that students with these reward tokens can only use them during the chosen times.

SWPBS Rewards Shop

Our SWPBS Rewards shop has been set up in the school library. Students can visit the shop at different times throughout the term to purchase their rewards.
